2008 July > Celebrating Seniors
It was a lovely, albeit slightly cool afternoon on the terrace at Avalon for the Seniors Appreciation afternoon. Lunch was served up as was a medley of song from entertainer Liz Tilden who brought out not only her hats and feathered boas, but also the best in the crowd who joined her in both song and dance. Liz actually had to have a costume change as her first effort moved into the crowd.
Caricaturist Ernest Fong moved amongst the crowd sketching caricatures of many to be included on Avalon's Wall of Fame. He captured the faces but could only hint at the personalities present. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some time chatting with Tony about his cottage days, and Rose about her remarkable good health at 97. The seniors at Avalon are great company and I can't wait to find a time to get back for another visit. For information about Avalon, please call Glenn at 416 778 2103.
