2008 July > Volleyball Trophy Resurfaces

The weather was the only thing that didn't cooperate in pulling together to present a recently rediscovered plaque back to its previous holders at the Balmy Beach Club. Sound mysterious? Well it sort of has been - ever since the AE Edwards Shield reappeared in the basement of the BBC, Kevin McConnell and club historian Ken Bingham have been working to unravel the trail gone cold and working with a team to bring the plaque back up to its current beauty. What is for sure is that Andy Stanko played on the last team to win the trophy in 1967 and he was on hand to present it to club President Chris Buckley. Alongside them stood long-time volleyball supporter and participant Ed Drakich who, along with most of his family embodies the history of volleyball past to present. It made sense that these three gathered to get this lovely trophy back where it belongs.
