2008 July > Toronto Windsurfing Club Boardfest Boardfest is the summer season opener event for Toronto Windsurfing Club and although the wind was not ideal for sailing, the festivities on land were loads of fun. Sailing instruction, equipment repair, lake board paddling, skipping stones, eating hamburgers, equipment swapping, sailing stories and just plain relaxing. Perhaps the most fun was had during the stand up board race, a TWC past time for less than windy days.
Started in the 70’s the Club has 550 members, 280 board storage bunks and all activities are run by volunteer members. You can come out and experience windsurfing for yourself on Wednesday nights at the club when they hold their social and a fun race and give newcomers an opportunity to learn about windsurfing. For kids, a few spots are left for the July 28 camp but its filling up fast. If you're interested in windsurfing, drop down to 2 Regatta Road, just East of Cheery Beach or call 647 889 7946 to speak to Ivan or visit www.torontowindsurf.com and check out the beach cam!
