Used Sports Equipment Drive
This month saw the Canadian Tire at Lake Shore Leslie Centre living up to the corporate mandate to provide customers with eco-friendly products and services. Early in the month an Energy Expert was on the scene to give eco-friendly tips to customers of the store. And later in the month, Canadian Tire was bringing in used air conditioners, dehumidifiers and halogen lamps in a bid to keep 90 truckloads of material out of landfills.
We caught up to them at their Used Sports Equipment Drive where customers dropped off gently used sports equipment and a group of teens from Riverdale C. I. and the 32nd Toronto Scout Troup got on board to help. The equipment will be refurbished and re-distributed next spring to up and coming, and rapidly growing, athletes who may not have otherwise been able to play.
